  Android is a Linux based operating system basically designed for Touchscreen Tablet Computers and Smartphones. It proved to be one of the most innovative idea of its time. It was later purchased and well marketed by Google.


 Its an open source operating system that means any manufacturer can purchase its license from Google (under the name Apache).
These were primarily designed for Touchscreen Tablet Computers and Smartphone however it has seen additional applications on TV, Camera etc. 

This open source code and permissive licensing allows the software to be freely modified and distributed by device manufacturers, wireless carriers and enthusiast developers.This ensures that manufacturer need not to prepare whole operating system from scratch. All that t need to do is modify it and sell.

This fact have contributed towards making Android the worlds most widely used operating system overtaking Symbian in forth quarter in 2010.

Despite of its success it have lost its prestige for the same reason that have made it successful. Now every Tom, Dick and Harry walks with android devices in hand. Predominantly the release of cheap android from manufacturers like Samsung.Etc have worsen the situation. It no more hold its position as a luxurious Mobile OS.
                       
Samsung thinks that Android a healthy investment. But iTHINK that its dissolving itself with it. Its like Samsung is digging grave for itself by continuing on its path to promote Android in any and every way.And if Scenario doesn't change in a while we won't be able to see Samsung for too long.
